Paul S. Anderson, President
Paul S. Anderson was born in Chicago on August 19, 1952 and received his BA from Wake Forest University, his JD from the Illinois Institute of Technology/Chicago – Kent College of Law, and participated in a graduate program in international legal studies based in Salzburg, Austria in conjunction with the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, European Programs. He currently serves as Honorary Consul General of Norway for the State of Illinois and is a partner in the law firm of Sonnenberg & Anderson. He is also the President of the ITA/GC. The law firm practices in the area of Customs and international trade matters.
Mr. Anderson has held the positions of President and Vice-President of the Chicago Chapter of the Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce; Chairman of the Customs and U.S. Trade Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association; Director of the Mid-America Swedish Trade Association; and Director and Recording Secretary of the Canadian Club of Chicago. He is a member of the Chicago, Illinois State, American, and Customs and International Trade Bar Associations and a past member of the International Committee of the Executives Club of Chicago.
He is currently an honorary director of the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Chicago, President and a Director of the International Trade Association of Greater Chicago, and a member of the Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association of Chicago. He is also registered as a resource in Customs issues by the Government of Switzerland in its “Pool of Experts” program. He also currently serves as secretary and director of two non-profit organizations – the Craig F. Glattly Foundation and Exchange of Hope. He is a past member of the Milwaukee World Trade Association, the West Michigan World Trade Association, and past co-chair of the Western Europe Special Interest Group of the Executive’s Club of Chicago.
Mr. Anderson is a frequent lecturer and has spoken on many topics involving Customs and Trade including U.S. Customs Valuation, Inter-company Transfer Pricing—Customs Valuation Ramifications, Importing-Customs Classification Principles, and Foreign Trade Zones and their Utilization. He has also recently been named as one of the “Leading American Attorneys” in Illinois in the field of Customs and International Trade matters.
