WHO WE ARE |
 |
The International Trade
Association of Greater Chicago ("ITA/GC") is a
not-for-profit, voluntary business association dedicated
to promoting international commerce in all its forms.
The
ITA/GC provides a forum for the exchange of practical
information and insight within the international business
community. Members share interests in import and export
matters, in international investment, alliance, and
licensing opportunities; and—in the broader sense—doing
business across the world.
ITA/GC is the largest association of its kind in
Illinois. With around 500 members, we represent a range
of materials, merchandise, and service companies,
consular and diplomatic groups, academics, and
individuals. It is our policy to maintain an approximate
equivalence of manufacturing and service firm
membership.
The International Trade Association of Greater Chicago
has received broad recognition for its work, receiving
the United States of America's highest international
trade award, the President's "E" Award for Export
Service. We were commended for exemplary leadership and
commitment to the development, enhancement and promotion
of international trade. |

ITA/GC History |
In 1977, a small group of individuals representing
northwest suburban Chicago area businesses engaged in
world trade formed a "club" to exchange up-to-date
information and educate newcomers to international
business.
Reflecting its geographic location, this group was
incorporated in January 1979 as the Northwest
International Trade Club. Soon, the "club" was
attracting members from all over the Chicago area, and
in 1985, the name was changed to The International Trade
Association of Greater Chicago.
Today, the ITA/GC attracts members in Illinois, across
the US, and throughout the world. |
